Circus Pages returns to thrill audiences in Saline County

"The Greatest Show on Earth" may have closed, but another circus was going strong, thrilling crowds in Harrisburg at the Saline County Fairgrounds last weekend.

Circus Pages, which began in Cuba in the 1960s, continues to maintain its breakneck pace of entertainment throughout the U.S. and Canada, according to one of the circus' performers.

Colleen Pages said she was practically born into her family's circus, and has been performing from a very young age. The number of venues performed each year is staggering - twice daily about five days a week for a nine-month tour, Pages said.

"We stay very busy," she said.

At last Saturday's first performance at the fairgrounds, the crowd was treated to performances including an elephant routine, camels, a trained dog revue, and human performers including acrobats, dancers, equine stunt riders, a juggler and a clown.

Elephant rides were available at the show's intermission before the circus closed with its big cat performance.
