State officials descend on local residence.

Early Wednesday morning Harrisburg City Police, the Illinois Department of Natural Recourses and the USDA conducted an inspection at the Old Malan Junior High building, now residence to the Yang family.

Qiao Yang, 44, 124 South Webster Street in Harrisburg was charged earlier this month with unlawful transport of poultry products and operating an establishment without a license.

Yang was arrested by Harrisburg police during the investigation and booked into Saline County Detention Center.

Both the Webster Street property and their property on Blue Hole Road were inspected and the investigation is still ongoing.

Fire Chief John Gunning was present during the inspections and expressed his concerns with the condition of the building.

"We found some issues that need to be taken care of," said Gunning. "There are holes in the roof and several other building issues that are a real concern for safety."

The complaint that was issued by the state's attorney's office against Yang on Jan. 8 stated that she was operating an establishment without a license and has slaughtered poultry for resale without first securing a license from the Illinois Department of Agriculture.

Yang, according to reports, transported poultry products which had not been inspected and passed by the Illinois Department of Agriculture or the United States Department of Agriculture, knowing that the processed poultry was intended for human consumption.

Gunning did share that Yang has proper licensure to have livestock but the legality stops there.

Yang posted a $200 cash bond and was released to her family.
