SIC students present artwork

Students at Southeastern Illinois College will have their best work of the year displayed in the school's annual end-of-the-year art exhibit.

Art Director Sara DeNeal said that the program is a chance for students to gain the experience of presenting their work.

"This is a group show," DeNeal said. "But each student will have their own space."

According to DeNeal, students examine their portfolio of work created throughout the school year, and choose their best pieces as a separate portfolio for the exhibit.

"There will be several mediums…depending on the classes a student took throughout the year," DeNeal said.

SIC offers multiple art classes for students, including ceramics, graphic design, and drawing.

The annual show has been a staple at SIC since the late nineties, running through the end of the spring semester into the school's summer term.

A reception will be held on Sunday, May 1 at 1 p.m. in the lobby of the George T. Dennis Visual and Performing Arts Center Art Gallery.

The gallery will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during the spring semester, and on Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. during the summer when the school is in session.
