Police: Driver dies in rollover, not wearing seatbelt

A driver, who appears to have lost control of her car, was killed just north of Carrier Mills.

Britney J. Deaton, 29, of Stonefort, was heading north around 9:12 Friday morning on US 45 in a 2006 Toyota truck when she moved out to pass two cars that also were heading north, according to a report from the Illinois State Police.

As Deaton moved past the two cars and started to negotiate her way back into the northbound lane, "she lost control striking a mailbox and driving off into the east side ditch, where the vehicle overturned," ISP reports.

Deaton, who police say was not wearing a seatbelt, was partially ejected from her vehicle. The Saline County Coroner's Office pronounced her dead at the crash scene, reports the ISP.

An ISP Crash Reconstruction Officer has been assigned to the crash investigation, police report. The investigation is ongoing.

The Saline County Sheriff's and Carrier Mills police departments, and the Saline County EMS and coroner's offices assisted ISP District 19 at the crash scene.
