City reviews possible police car donation to Creal Springs

The Harrisburg City Council will vote on whether or not to donate one of the older city police cars to the Creal Springs Police Department at their next meeting.

Commissioner Beth Montfort brought the idea up at the Thursday meeting, saying that she had been contacted by the Creal Springs Chief of Police. "Being a small town, they're just in dire need of a police car. We thought it would be a nice gesture for Harrisburg to perhaps take one of the old cars…and help a police department in need," Montfort said.

During the meeting, Montfort mentioned that two new police cars had arrived for Harrisburg, and that some of the older cars were being used for parts. Some, Montfort said, were only worth about $750.

"I just think it'd be a nice gesture," Montfort said.

While the council seemed to be in favor of the idea, as it was not on the agenda, Montfort asked the council to ponder the idea, and to bring it up again at the next council meeting for a vote.
