Thelma (Granny) Gibbs

Thelma (Granny) Gibbs 96 of Harrisburg passed away peacefully at 4:58 PM Tuesday, June 21, 2016 in Carrier Mills.

Thelma was born March 17, 1920 in Herod, IL to the late Lucian and Sophie (Modglin) Gibbons. She married Gilbert Gibbs on July 29, 1938 in Charleston, MO. They celebrated 51 years of marriage before his passing on September 27, 1989.

Thelma is survived by three sons, Cecil and Ann Gibbs of Marion, Jess Gibbs of Harrisburg and Vic and Denia Gibbs of Harrisburg. 6 grandchildren, Joyce, Steve, Shane, Kim, Hollie and Chad; great grandchildren Travis, Taylor, Brent, Cory, Kaitlyn and Christian. She is survived

by one sister, Lucille Gibbs and one sister in law, Mary Lou Gibbons, several nieces and nephews and a host of friends.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gilbert, Grandson Kris, three sisters and three brothers.

Thelma's life was devoted to her family. She loved her sons and smiled with love when she talked about them. She brought joy and laughter to all her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved the with all her heart. They were all perfect in her eyes. She could spice up everyone's life and did so to many residents and workers at Carrier Mills Nursing Home. If they were having a bad day they would go visit Granny.

Funeral services for Thelma will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home in Harrisburg with Billy Paul Ewell officiating and burial to follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Friends may call after 11:00 AM Saturday, June 25, 2016 at the J. M. Weirauch Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the Macedonia Cemetery with envelopes available at the funeral home.
