William Darrell Aly
William Darrell Aly age 82, of Eddyville, Illinois passed away September 16, 2016 at home.
He was born September 27, 1933 in Pope County, IL to Frank and Flo (Thornton) Aly. He married Joyce Brashere on October 27, 1957. He was in the US ARMY and served two years, one year of this in Korea. He ran the Aly's General Store in Eddyville, IL. He was a retired wholesale grocers sales representative for M. Livingston H.T. Hackney, Paducah, KY. He was a lifelong member of the Eddyville United Methodist Church. He served of the Pope County School Board for 14 years and was President for 8 years. He was a member of Eddyville Masonic Lodge No. 672 AF&AM for 60 years. He was a 52 year member of Order of the Eastern Star Eddyville, IL Chapter 1007. He served on the Eddyville Village Board over 50 years and was Mayor for the last 7 years. He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals baseball fan.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Aly of Eddyville, IL; four children, Cathy Davis and Tony Merenda of DeBary, FL, Frank and wife Ellen Aly of Glendale, IL, David Aly and Chrissy Oppel of Salem, IN, Mesia and husband Mike McFadden of Henderson, NV; nine grandchildren, Trevor McGuire, Taylor Mosier, Trisha Burns, Hannah Schaede, Austin Aly, Ethan Aly, Madison Aly, Cassie Vermeire, Dane Vermeire; two great grandchildren, Karver Schaede, Steele Mosier; several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Ralph Aly.
Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. The service will be conducted by Rev. Michael Shearer. Interment will follow at the Eddyville Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted by VFW Post 9227, American Legion Post 719, and the Illinois National Guard Military Funeral Honors Team. Visitation will be from 6-9pm on Monday, September 19, 2016 at Aly Funeral Home in Eddyville, IL. Eddyville Masonic Lodge No. 672 AF&AM will conduct a masonic service at 8:00pm, during the visitation.
