Allen Bailey

GLENDALE - Allen Bailey, 64, a resident of the Glendale community in rural Simpson, passed away Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2016, in St. Thomas West Hospital in Nashville, Tennessee.

He was born Jan. 26, 1952, in Paducah, Kentucky, son of the Rev. John R. and Mildred (Evitts) Bailey.

Survivors include his daughter, Tresa (her husband, Scotty) Hargrove of the Renshaw community; grandson, Bailey Hargrove; and his "sweetheart," Vickie Moore of Benton, Kentucky; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Allen was a graduate of Pope County High School. He was employed as an operator by Allied Chemical/Honeywell at the Metropolis facility until his retirement in 2007. Allen was affectionately known as "Buster" by his co-workers.

Allen was an avid outdoorsman and loved hunting. He was a founding member of the local River Oaks Quail Unlimited Chapter, as well as the Quail Upland Game Alliance. He also was a member of the Wild Turkey Federation and a life member of the National Rifle Association (NRA).

He attended Glendale United Methodist Church.

Allen also enjoyed golfing. However, his two true passions were farming and spending time with his family. He was a devoted "Pa-Paw" to his grandson, Bailey.

A service honoring the life of Allen Bailey will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, in Glendale United Methodist Church, 464 Illinois 145, in Simpson. Burial will be in Cedar Grove Cemetery, southwest of Eddyville. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, at Bailey Funeral Home in Vienna and noon to 1 p.m. Thursday at the church.
