Harrisburg Medical Center announces Donald Hutson as new CEO

HARRISBURG -- Harrisburg Medical Center on Friday announced that Donald H. Hutson is the hospital's new chief executive officer.

Hutson, a native of Corinth, Miss., most recently served as CEO for University of Mississippi Medical Center Grenada and UMMC Holmes County in Mississippi.

He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Mississippi and a master's degree in health administration from Baylor University.

According to HMC's news release, after Hutson graduated from University of Mississippi in 1985, he was commissioned as a U.S. Army Medical Service Corps officer. During a 21-year military career, Hutson served a variety of healthcare leadership positions and retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel in 2006. His military awards and decorations include a Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit, four Meritorious Service medals, a Joint Service Commendation Medal and three Army Commendation Medals in addition to campaign ribbons associated with service in Desert Shield and Desert Storm.

In February 2006, Hutson became CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Union City, Tenn. In 2008, he was named CEO of Baptist Memorial Hospital in Oxford, Miss. He was director of the Marion VA Medical Center from 2013 to early 2016.

Hutson is Board-certified in healthcare management and is a Fellow in the American College of Healthcare Executives.

He is married to the former Sandra Maples of Oxford, Miss. They have two sons, Matthew, 19, and Connor, 13.
