The autopsy revealed Hancock's death was due to a left hemothorax as a result of the gun firing the bullet into her lower back in an upward manner, traveling through her left lung, upward through her neck and lodging in her left back jaw area, according to the release.
Two other people were at the house, Hancock's husband and a friend. Their statements indicated the gun was dropped and discharged upon striking the ground at 8:10 p.m.
Cox pronounced Hancock dead at the scene and asks everyone to "keep the family in their prayers from this very unusual and sad incident," he said in the release.
Cox said he does not anticipate further investigation.
