National Weather Service updates tornado statistics
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The National Weather Service out of Paducah, Ky. has issued a statement updating critical statistics on Wednesday's tornado.
The tornado, which was an EF4, occurred at 4:51 a.m. in Carrier Mills, hit Harrisburg at 4:56 a.m. and ripped through Ridgway at 5:10 a.m.
The tornado caused six confirmed fatalities in Harrisburg, and approximately 100 to 110 injuries.
Peak winds are estimated to have been about 180 mph, up from an original estimate of 170 mph. The width of the tornado path has also been updated from 250 yards to 275 yards.
The length of the tornado path was 26.5 miles. It formed about one mile north of Carrier Mills and ended four miles northeast of Ridgway.
In Harrisburg over 200 homes and about 25 businesses were destroyed or damaged heavily. At least 10 homes and other buildings were leveled completely and several structures were displaced from their foundations.
In Ridgway the tornado damaged around 140 homes and businesses. There was one critical injury and around a dozen minor injuries. A church building and around six grain bins were completely destroyed.
