Clara Frances Thornton

Clara Frances Thornton, age 98, of Harrisburg, passed away at 3:15 AM, Friday, August 26, 2016 at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado. She was born on January 20, 1918 in Carrier Mills, Illinois.

Her parents were Loren and Osgoal was to live to be 100. Although she fought the good fight and never gave up, God had other plans and called her home. bia (Wallace) Austin.

Frances married Everett "Jack" Kincheloe on August 31, 1935 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1957. She married Joe Thornton on August 4, 1962 and he preceded her in death in 1987.

Frances joined McKinley Avenue Baptist Church on January 4, 1957. She taught children Sunday school classes for several years. Seventeen United States Presidents served during her lifetime. She lived through two World Wars, the Great Depression, and the 1937 flood.

Frances lived to help celebrate each of her three children's 50th wedding anniversaries. She was a St. Louis Cardinals fan. Frances was 98 years 7 months and 6 days.

Frances is survived by her children: Jack L. (Lory) Kincheloe, Dow Kincheloe and Anita (Eddie) Whipple; grandchildren: Jill (Brent) Houston, Jeff (Sheila) Kincheloe, Ashli (John) Harris and Brynn Kincheloe; great-grandchildren: Gabrielle Harris, Hannah Harris, Tiarra Kincheloe, Liliauna Kincheloe, Brendon Kincheloe, Sam Houston and a special little boy: Milo Moody; step-children: JoAnn (David) Mullen, Delores Boudreaux and Georgia Thornton; step grandchildren: Davey Mullen, Cindy Faulkner and Arlena Baier.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, brothers, Lee Austin, Paul Austin, Perry Austin and Gene Austin, sister, Muriel Thomas, daughter-inlaw, Judy Kincheloe and step-son, Ray Thornton.

Funeral services will be held at 1 PM, Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Rev. Billy Dye Jr. will officiate. Burial will follow at Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado.

Visitation will be held from 11 AM to 1 PM, Sunday, August 28, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel. In lieu of f lowers memorial contributions may be made to Deaconess Hospice. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
