Jack Weir

ELDORADO – Jack “J.L.” Weir, 82, passed away Jan. 7, 2017, in Harrisburg.

He was born May 8, 1934, in Galatia to Loyle and Laura Mae (Peyton) Weir.

J.L. was a member of Eldorado VFW Post 3479 and Eldorado Men's Club.

He worked on concrete construction.

On Jan.17, 1954, he married the former Eva Jean Cummings, and they were married for 61 years. She preceded him in death on April 5, 2015.

Survivors include his son, John Weir (Trina Irwin) of Eldorado; two daughters, Gayla Robinson of Lakeland, Florida, and Linda Hayes of Eldorado; six grandchildren, Cristin (Ryan) Townsend of Eldorado, Lucas Weir (Megan Lowe) of Eldorado, Dustin (Jackie) Robinson of Lakeland, Florida, Amanda Robinson of Lakeland Florida, P.J. Hayes (Ashley Sherwin) of Harrisburg and Laura Hayes (Tyler Mayberry) of Eldorado; five great-grandchildren, Carter Townsend, Tanner Townsend, Dalton Robinson, Aubree Mayberry and Jackson Hayes; several nieces and nephews; and sisters-in-law, June Shearer, Wanda (Billy) Burklow and Karen Cummings.

He was preceded in death by his parents; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Gayle and Eva (Hall) Cummings; and two brothers-in-law, Gayle Cummings Jr. and Marv Shearer.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 12, in Watson Funeral Home in Eldorado. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made in his honor to Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Saline County and left at the funeral home.
