Gretchen Sue English

HARRISBURG -- Gretchen Sue English, 77, passed away at 5:58 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2017, in Harrisburg Medical Center.

Sue was born Oct. 22, 1939, in Saline County to Sam and Eva (Patrick) Yother. On June 12, 1958, she married Timmis English, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 7, 2003.

Survivors include two children, Bruce English and wife Kerri of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, and Scarlett English of Savannah, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Brista Barrington and husband Justin of Carterville, Brittany Taylor and husband Kreig of Eldorado, Brandy Questelle of Harrisburg and Brittany Cannon and Brooklyn Cannon, both of Savannah, Tennessee; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Yother and wife Sherry of Anna; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Connie Glass and husband Gail and Romaine Carlton and husband Dale, all of Harrisburg; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Samantha English; granddaughter, Candace Fleichmann; two brothers, Don Yother and Bud Yother; and sister, Joyce Russell.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20, in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Scott Pilkington officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
