Alma Jenkins McCutchan

STONEFORT -- Alma Jenkins McCutchan, 100, passed away peacefully Sunday afternoon, Feb. 12, 2017, in Harrisburg Medical Center.

Alma was born May 9, 1916, in Carrier Mills, the daughter of John W. and Wynona (Benewitz) Jenkins.

She married Gano Gurley on Jan. 14, 1942, and he preceded her in death on April 26, 1954. She later married Charles McCutchan on Feb. 14, 1959, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 11, 1984.

Alma was the oldest member of First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills. She was one of the first four children who was baptized in the current church building by the Rev. Clarence Henderson.

Survivors include her son, Harrold Gano Gurley and his wife Gina of Carterville; and grandsons, Charles Jack "C.J." Gurley of Paducah and Brian Paul Gurley of Addison.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Gano and Charles; sisters, Ruth Griffin and Lucille Ferguson; and brother, Paul Jenkins.

Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 14, in Salem Cemetery in Carrier Mills with the Rev. Stan Irvin officiating. Burial will follow. There will be no visitation. Those attending are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, the preferred choice of remembrance would be memorials in her memory to First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the services. They also may be mailed to First United Methodist Church, 109 E. Washington St., Carrier Mills, IL 62917.
