Shelby Lynn-Goldie Gass

ELDORADO -- Shelby Lynn-Goldie Gass, 22, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2017, in Methodist University Hospital in Indianapolis.

She was born April 26, 1994, in Evansville, Indiana, to Jimmy and Annette (Payne) Gass.

Shelby was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. She was a 2016 graduate of Brownsville School, where she received several awards and always displayed her contagious spirit.

She was a Special Olympics athlete on the state and local levels. She also was an “honorary” member of the Eldorado High School cheerleaders and Eldorado High School football team.

In addition to her parents, survivors include her brother, Tyler Gass of Eldorado; sisters, Taylor and Jimma Gass of Eldorado; paternal grandparents, Ralph Jr. and Sheila Gass of Eldorado; maternal grandparents, Gabriel and Sharon Payne of Eldorado; special uncle, Troy (Tina) Payne of Vandalia; special aunt, Tammy (John) Bayne of Raleigh; aunt, Pam and uncle, Chuck Jones of Eldorado; cousins, Eva, Autumn, Eli and Aric Payne, and Wes, Josh and Kaci Bayne; and her best friend, Kim Payne.

She was preceded in death by her paternal great-grandparents, Woolard and Lois Allen, Ralph Sr. and Blanche Gass; and maternal great-grandparents, Harvey and Inez Goldie Pfeiffer and James and Janetta Payne.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, in Colonial Terrace Funeral Home in Eldorado with Father Mark Stec officiating. Burial will be in Saint Mary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home.

In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Brownsville School and will be accepted at the funeral home.
