Edward Lee Carnett

HARRISBURG – Edward Lee Carnett, 58, passed away at 11:06 a.m. Friday, Feb. 17, 2017, in Memorial Hospital of Carbondale.

He was born April 2, 1958, in Odessa, Texas, to Charles Robert “Bob” and Sylvia (Jessup) Carnett. On Oct. 10, 2010, he married Reita Renae Spirling.

Edward was a member of Sons of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Reita Carnett of Harrisburg; six children, Skyler Abbott of Harrisburg, Joshua Fike of New Mexico, Matthew Fike and wife Rachel V. of New Mexico, Rachel R. Fike and fiancé Arnold Fonseca of Harrisburg, Cameron Carnett of Harrisburg and Alissa Carnett of Harrisburg; six grandchildren, Cody Sterling, Chloe Schultz, Dominic Abbott, Elizabeth Fike, Renae Fike and Mattie Fike; brother, Robert Carnett and wife Margaret of Houston; sister, Janis Rubenacker and husband Andy of Piopolis; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; paternal grandparents, Lawrence and Murley Carnett; maternal grandparents, Hughie and Maude Jessup; aunt, Eria Mae Hanson; and niece, Zoie Wetherly.

Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, in Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg with the Rev. Mark Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to American Diabetes Association or American Lung Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
