Prep Girls Hoops: Tigers turn it up late

With Kelsey Hobbs and Matty Hawkins playing much of the second half in foul trouble, Herrin used a big fourth quarter, outscoring Harrisburg 22-13 to notch a 63-49 win over the Bulldogs in prep girls basketball Wednesday night.

Lilee Robinson led Harrisburg with a team-high 11 points, while Hobbs was held to nine points and Hawkins scored seven.

Lotte Miller also had seven points. while Karsyn Davis finished with five points for the Bulldogs, Toni Crisp and Madeline Rider each had four points a piece and Hannah Bartok had two points in a birthday loss for the senior guard.

Harrisburg was outscored 38-26 in the second half as the Bulldogs went into the break trailing by two, 25-23.

Harrisburg finished 15-for-54 from the field and went 1-of-17 from 3-point range as Davis had the lone trifecta. At the free throw line, Harrisburg was 18-of-28.

Herrin fared only a little better, going 20-for-55 from the field and 1-of-9 from beyond the arc. The Tigers finished 22-for-30 from the foul stripe.
