Prep Hoops: Bulldogs stumble in second half
Harrisburg stumbled in the second half and their recent game struggles continued as they lost to Mt. Carmel 74-69 at the Carmi-White County Invitational Monday evening.
After taking a 32-31 halftime lead, the Bulldogs (10-8) were outscored 43-37 in the second half as Harrisburg has now lost six straight.
The Bulldogs forced the Aces (10-9) into 20 turnovers, while committing just 10 of their own, but gave up a game-high 26 points to Justin Carpenter.
Harrisburg's Isaiah Saulsberry and Anfernee Houston each had a pair of 25-point performances in the loss for the Bulldogs, who played Fairfield Tuesday night at the CWCIT.
Mt. Carmel held the advantage on the boards, out rebounding Harrisburg 39-27 as Carpenter finished with a double-double, pulling down 18 boards.
Blake Drue had five points for Harrisburg, while Jordan Gould and Jordan Bartok finished with four points.
Patrick Bittle, Noah Ferrell and Hunter Smith all had two points for the Bulldogs.
Fairfield 72, Mt. Vernon, Ind. 66
Fairfield moved to three games under .500, picking up their sixth win of the season after knocking off Mt. Vernon, Ind. 72-66 Monday at the CWCIT.
Sky Kollak scored a game-high 24 points for the Mules, while Brant McGill and Macklin Snyder also finished in double figures as Snyder scored 16 points and Snyder tacked on 12 in the win.
Fairfield (6-9) played Harrisburg Tuesday night.
