Prep Girls Hoops: Harrisburg, Eldorado pick up wins

The Harrisburg High School girls' basketball team picked up a milestone victory Monday night, earning win No. 20 on the season in a 50-41 SIRR Ohio road win at Murphysboro.

Kelsey Hobbs led all scorers with 21 points and was the lone Bulldog to score in double figures.

It was another slow start for Harrisburg who trailed 10-6 after one quarter of play and went into the locker room, trailing 21-17, but the Bulldogs turned up the offense in the second half, outscoring Murphysboro 15-8 in the third quarter and 33-20 over the last two quarters for the win.

Lotte Miller netted nine points for Harrisburg, while Matty Hawkins added eight points. Alexa Burtis scored seven for the Bulldogs, while Karsyn Davis finished with four and Lilee Robinson added a free throw.

Eldorado 64, Fairfield 55

On a night when the Eldorado High School senior girls were honored before the game, head coach Scott Artman may have got the most production from his younger kids.

Takiya Britton, a sophomore dumped in a game-high 23 points, while Jade Hise, a freshmen, tacked on 13 as Eldorado beat Fairfield 64-55 Monday at Duff-Kingston Gymnasium.

It was the last home game for Abby Steed, who also put up 20 points in her home finale, as well as the swan song for Caitlin Stafford and Jacqlyn Artman.

Rachel Stafford finished with four points for Eldorado, while Madison Newton and Olivia Parker each tacked on two points in the win.
