Prep Girls Hoops: Bulldogs add exclamation point to season on Senior Night

Four Harrisburg High School seniors put an exclamation point on their season Tuesday night - which just so happened to be senior night - as Harrisburg topped West Frankfort 70-53.

The win tied for the most wins under head coach Jake Stewart as Harrisburg won their 21st game of the season and are now 21-9 and 6-4 in SIRR Ohio Conference play with the victory over the Redbirds.

It was a night when the four seniors, Kelsey Hobbs, Alexa Burtis, Lilee Robinson and Hannah Bartok accounted for 41 of Harrisburg's 70 points as Hobbs led all scorers with 31 points on 12-of-22 shooting from the field, going 5-for-8 from beyond the arc and knocking down 2-of-5 free throw attempts.

Burtis scored six points for the Bulldogs, while Robinson tacked on three and Bartok had a free throw in the win.

"I'm very proud of the way we played on both ends of the floor," Stewart said after the win. "Our seniors camea out ready to win and everyone else followed. This was a good win for us and gives us some momentum heading into regionals."

Harrisburg didn't stop there as Matty Hawkins had her first triple double of her career with 11 points, 13 blocks and 12 rebounds on the night.

Rounding out the scoring was nine points from Toni Crisp and five points from Lotte Miller and Karysn Davis finished with four points.

The Harrisburg junior varsity team picked up a 33-23 win over West Frankfort, where Brooke Meylor netted nine for the Bulldogs.

Jenny Buchanan chipped in with seven points, while Madeline Rider and Ali Ferrell each finished with five for the Bulldogs. Davis had four and Barker put up three.
