JUCO Softball: Falcons fall twice to Kaskaskia

The Southeastern Illinois College softball team lost a pair of games with Kaskaskia this week, falling 12-4 and losing 2-1.

Kaskaskia 2, SIC 1

Eldorado's Michaela Laswell (4-2) took the loss, going six innings and giving up just four hits and two runs (one earned). Laswell struck out three and walked one.

At the plate Maranda Chance (Vienna), Lyndsee Adams (Marion), Mikayla Thompson (Union Co. Ky.), Elizabeth Sloan (Galatia) and Harleigh Krumrey (Marion) all had one hit for the Falcons. Adams scored the lone run for SIC, while Thompson had the RBI.

Kaskaskia plated a run in the bottom of the second inning, but SIC tied the score with Adams' run in the top of the fourth. Kaskaskia came right back to take the lead with a run in the bottom of the frame and held on for the victory.

Kaskaskia 12, SIC 4

Emily Reed (Galatia) went 2-for-2, cranking out her first home run of the season and finished with a team-high three RBI, but it all came in a losing effort as SIC fell 12-4.

Chance also went 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Josie Garduno (Massac County) was 1-for-2 with a run scored and Krumrey scored a run as well.

In the circle, Maddie Plemmons (Hamilton County) took the loss, falling to 2-3 on the year. Plemmons went 1.33 innings, allowing four runs on three hits with three walks.

Laswell and Krumrey came on in relief to combine for a 9 hitter, while allowing 8 earned runs.

SIC is now 7-5 on the season.
