Alumni Corner: A weekly review of local college athletes

Luke Horton - SIU

Horton was the 1500 meters for the first time in his collegiate career and finished in seventh place with a time of 3:55.07 at the Bill Cornell Spring Classic over the weekend at the Lew Hartzog Track & Field Complex in Carbondale.

Cody Hall - Murray State

Hall went 0-for-2 with a strikeout in Murray State's 16-11 loss at Austin Peay Saturday. Hall pinched hit for right fielder Reed Thompson and is batting .200 on the season.

Lindsey Murray - Ole Miss

Murray placed third in the women's pole vault over the weekend at the Arkansas Spring Invitational track meet in Fayetteville. Murray had a season-best clearance of 13-feet-9.25 that ranks her 10th in the NCAA this year and is less than an inch away from the school record - 13-feet-9.75 set by Neal Tisher in 2011.

Taylor Goodley - Austin Peay

Goodley fired a 78 Sunday at the SIU Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale and carded an 84 Monday as the former Eldorado standout finished in a tie for 40th. Goodley shot a two-day total of 162 as the Governers finished fourth as a team in the tournament.

Ashton Goodley - Austin Peay

Goodley shot a 77 Sunday during the first round of the SIU Invitational at Hickory Ridge Golf Course in Carbondale and followed that up with an 80 Monday for a two-day total of 157 as the former Eldorado standout finished tied for 21st place overall. Austin Peay was fourth as a team in the tournament.
