Prep Baseball: Harrisburg outlasts Pleasant Plains in extra innings

Harrisburg 14, Pleasant Plains 13

Jordan Gould was 5-for-6 with a pair of triples and three RBI, while Britton Riden also drove in three runs and had three hits at the plate as Harrisburg knocked off Pleasant Plains in nine innings Monday night at Abe Martin Field on the campus of SIU.

Patrick Bittle picked up the win for Harrisburg, who used two other pitchers on the day as Dalton Lambert got the start and Carson Burtis came on in relief.

Harrisburg is now 4-1 on the season.

Union County, Ky. 7, Eldorado 2

Max Kasiar went 6 1/3 inning, allowing seven runs on 11 hits as the Eldorado baseball team dropped to 1-4 on the season in a 7-2 loss to Union County, Ky., Monday night at the Eldorado Sports Complex.

Kasiar struck out five and walked three in the loss, but the line doesn't explain how well he pitched according to EHS head coach Brad Drust.

"Union County had a bunch of little dink hits, but I thought Max really competed on the mound. He threw 111 pitches and even after throwing that many, he almost talked me into letting him stay in."

At the plate, Eldorado had four hits on the day, stranding 12 runners on base.

Stanton Hathaway was the lone Eagle to have multiple hits on the day, finishing 2-for-4, while Kale Oglesby and Josh Pilkington all had one hit. Jacob Traxler was 0-for-2, but walked and had scored one run.

Goreville 13, Gallatin County 3

Lucas Hise went 2-for-3 as Gallatin County fell to Goreville 13-3 Monday.

Thomas York, Seth Ramsey and Patrick Clark had the other hits for the Hawks in the loss.

Hise took the loss on the mound, going four innings and allowing three earned runs. Audie Goebel came on in relief and gave up three earned runs over three innings.

Gallatin County trailed 7-3 entering the sixth inning when the Blackcats scored six to open the game up.

"They are a team that will make you pay for every single mistake you make," Gallatin County head coach Mark Hiller said "Goreville is a really good team and we gave them extra outs every inning."
