Prep Softball: Galatia gets past Crab Orchard in key GEC game

After starting off the season 0-5, the Galatia softball team has rattled off three straight wins, most recently beating Crab Orchard 6-2 in a key Greater Egyptian Conference victory Monday on the road.

Lexi Johnson moved to 3-3 on the year, as the senior - in her first year pitching - threw a no hitter for Galatia (3-5). Johnson allowed two runs in the first inning on three errors and after that held the Trojans in check with three walks and two strikeouts.

Kennedy Harris continued her hot streak at the plate, missing the cycle by a triple, going 3-for-3 with a home run, an RBI and three runs scored.

Katie Linsley and Lexi Johnson were each 2-for-4 with Johnson smacking a home run and Linsley had two doubles on the day and finished with three RBI.

Trailing 2-1 in the third inning, Galatia plated three on Linsley's bases clearing double with two outs and added two more runs in the seventh with back-to-back solo shots by Johnson and Harris.

Galatia is scheduled to play Norris City-Omaha-Enfield Thursday at home, starting at 4:30 p.m.
