Alumni Corner: A weekly review of local athlets in college

Ryne Roper - Union

Roper went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored in Union University's 11-1 win over Lemoyne-Owen College last week.

Roper is currently hitting .296, playing in all 27 games for the Bulldogs. The former Harrisburg standout is 29-for-98 at the plate with 19 RBI and 17 runs scored. He's struck out 12 times on the year, while walking 11 times and has six doubles on the year.

Cooper Thompson - Union

Thompson scored a run in Union University's 11-1 win over Lemoyne-Owen College last week.

Thompson has played in just five games for the Bulldogs with four plate appearances and two total runs scored.

Cody Hall - Murray State

Hall went 1-for-3 with a run scored in Murray State's 18-5 win over Kentucky State last week.

Hall was also part of a triple play for the Racers. It happened in the top of the 8th inning when Nick Moore fielded the ball, touched third and relayed it to Hall at second base, who then fired to Jake Hranec at first to finish the play. It was just the second triple play of record in program history. The first came back in 2006 against Ole Miss.

Hall then went 0-for-1 with two runs scored and an RBI in Murray State's recording setting 31-11 win over Eastern Illinois this past weekend.

The Thoroughbreds tied a program record that has stood for 66 years and The 31 runs ties the program record set against Lipscomb back in 1950. MSU's 28 hits in the game also ties a program record.

Isaac Ingram - SIU

Ingram notched a new lifetime-best with a mark of 179-11 in the hammer throw at the Joey Haines Invitational, hosted by SEMO over the weekend. The Saluki Track & Field team returns to competition on Friday at the Tiger Track Classic, hosted by Auburn University.

Lindsey Murray - Ole Miss

Murray finished runner-up in the pole vault in California at the Stanford Invitational with a height of 13-9.25 that matched her season best and is a half-inch shy of the school record. She entered the weekend ranked 11th nationally in the event.

Taylor Goodley - Austin Peay

Goodley shot a three-day score of 79-81-75-235 to finish ain a tie for 16th place as an individual while the Austin Peay golf team took sixth at the EKU Colonel Classic, played at the University Club in Arlington, Ky., over the weekend.

Ashton Goodley - Austin Peay

Goodley fired a three-day score of 79-80-79-238 at the EKU Colonel Classic, played at the University Club in Arlington, Ky., over the weekend. The Austin Peay golf team finished sixth overall.
