JUCO Softball: SIC sweeps Lincoln Trail

The Southeastern Illinois College softball team picked up a pair of wins last week, knocking off Lincoln Trail 5-4 and 10-6.

In the 5-4 victory, Maddie Plemmons (Hamilton County) got the win on the mound, while Michaela Laswell (Eldorado) picked up the save. Plemmons is now 5-4 in the circle for the Falcons, while Laswell earned her first save of the season.

Plemmons went four innings, allowing four runs on six hits, while striking out two and walking two. Laswell worked the final three innings, striking out five for the save.

At the plate, SIC had 11 hits on the day with Maranda Chance (Vienna) and Emily Reed (Galatia) each going 2-for-4. Reed had a team-high two RBI, while both scored a run.

Lyndsee Adams (Marion), Mikayla Thompson (Union County, Ky.), Larissa Bond (Galatia), Dakota Quertermous (Marion), Harleigh Krumrey (Marion), Ashley Ferrell (Harrisburg) and Plemmons all had one hit on the day.

Adams scored two runs on the day and Ferrell scored one run. Thompson, Plemmons and Bond all had one RBI.

In the 10-6 win, Chance was 4-for-5 with a pair of runs scored, while Bond finished 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and a run scored. Reed went 2-for-5 on the day with an RBI, while Thompson, Krumrey and Quertermous all had one hit.

Laswell went the distance, picking up the win in the circle, allowing six runs on 11 hits with striking out 11 and walking five.

Late last week, SIC dropped a pair of games to Lakeland as the Falcons are now 9-7 on the season and are 4-4 in conference play.

SIC lost Game One 14-0 and dropped Game Two 13-1

Plemmons took the loss in the 14-0 route, dropping her record to 4-3 on the season.

SIC had just two hits, coming from Krumrey and Plemmons.

The lone hit in Game Two came from Reed, while Adams scored the only run.

Krumrey took the loss and is now 0-1 on the year after giving up nine runs (four earned) on seven hits and two walks.
