Prep Baseball: Bulldogs come back to beat West Frankfort

On a day that was mostly about their head coach, the Harrisburg High School baseball team wasn't about to rain on Jay Thompson's parade.

Before hand, the field formerly known as Dorris Heights was named in Thompson's honor and then the Bulldogs went out and posted a come-from-behind 10-8 win over West Frankfort.

The win improves Harrisburg to 5-2 overall and 1-0 in the Southern Illinois River-to-River Conference.

Harrisburg had 10 hits on the day as Patrick Bittle went 3-for-3 with three RBI, while Jordan Gould was 3-for-4 at the dish. Austin Hefner managed a pair of hits and drove in two, while Noah Vallette was 1-for-2 with a home run and three RBI.

Cooper Patterson got the win in relief of starter Bryce Emery.

Harrisburg is slated to play at Massac County today (Tuesday) at 4:30 p.m.
