Prep Baseball: Taking The Split

One bad inning was the difference for Eldorado in a 5-3 loss at Hamilton County Tuesday afternoon.

Eldorado jumped out to a 3-0 lead, but watched as the Foxes mounted a comeback to score five runs in the fourth and took a one up lead in the Black Diamond Conference East Standings.

Eldorado (2-5, 0-1) was led at the plate by five different Eagles as Drew Woolcott, Kale Oglesby, Stanton Hathaway, Max Kasiar and Josh Pilkington all had one hit.

Woolcott and Oglesby each scored a run, while Hathaway and Kasiar both had an RBI on the day.

Woolcott took the loss, going six innings and allowing five runs (four earned) on five hits, while striking out four and walking three.

"Overall today we played well except for one inning," EHS head coach Brad Drust said. "Drew really competed out there on the mound and showed he wanted the ball in his hand. We took an early lead and we were cruising then all of a sudden we have one bad inning. But give our kids credit in the seventh, they battle back to load the bases and get the go ahead run on first. We just have to cut out the mistakes and we will be a tough team to beat."

Tuesday's loss was bookended by Monday's 16-9 win over Carrier Mills-Stonefort.

Woolcott was 3-for-6 at the dish with a pair of doubles, two runs scored and an RBI, while Adam Ninness went 3-for-3 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI.

Hathaway and Pilkington were both 2-for-5 against the Wildcats as Hathaway drove in two and scored three. Pilkington had a pair of RBI and scored one run. Oglesby went 2-for-4 with three runs scored.

Jacob Traxler and Kasiar each had one hit. Kasiar scored two and drove in two, while Traxler had two RBI and a run scored.

Joe Mayberry got his first win of the season, coming on in relief of Hathaway, who started the game.

Mayberry went three innings, allowing three runs (one earned) on two hits and four strikeouts.

In the start, Hathaway went four innings and allowed six runs (five earned) on three hits with five strikeouts and five walks.

Eldorado is slated to play Granville on Saturday, starting at 11 a.m. a the EHS Sports Complex.
