JUCO Softball: Southeast Illinois drops a pair at Olney

Despite a pair of home runs from Galatia's Emily Reed and Larissa Bond, the Southeast Illinois College softball team dropped a pair of games at Olney Community College recently.

Reed, a Murray State University transfer, cranked out her sixth home run of the season in a 8-2 loss. Reed went 1-for-2 at the plate, with a run and an RBI as she and Bond had the only two hits of the game. Bond's hit was also a home run, which was her third of the season.

Eldorado's Michaela Laswell took the loss, dropping tho 8-9 on the season. Laswell went six innings, allowing eight runs (six earned) on eight hits with two strikeouts and five walks.

In the 7-5 loss, the Falcons rebounded for 12 hits on the day as Harrisburg's Whitney Younger and Reed were both 3-for-4 at the dish and each scored a run. Younger had an RBI, as did Elizabeth Sloan (Galatia), Maddie Plemmons (Hamilton County) and Bond.

Union County's Mikayla Thompson, Marion's Lyndsee Adams and Plemmons all had two hits.

Harleigh Krumrey (Marion) took the loss, dropping to 5-5 on the year. Krumrey allowed seven runs (three earned) on 11 hits.

SIC is now 17-18 overall and 8-14 in conference play.
