Prep Softball: Hit parade leads Harrisburg to win

Massac County enjoyed an early lead Monday at Harrisburg, but it was short lived as Harrisburg knocked off the Patriots 7-4 Monday.

The Bulldogs (12-6 overall, 2-3 in SIRR Ohio) put up two runs in the first inning, but the Patriots came back to go up 3-2 in the top of the third. In the bottom half of the frame, Harrisburg knotted the game at 3-all and then added two more runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth for the win.

Matty Hawkins (9-5) went the distance, allowing four runs (two earned) on eight hits, while striking out four and walking two.

At the plate, Karsyn Davis went 3-for-3 with an RBI, while Mckenzie Sullivan and Madeline Rider were both 2-for-2. Rider drove in a pair of runs, while Sullivan knocked in one RBI.

Gillian Jones went 1-for-1 for the Bulldogs in the win.
