Prep Golf: Continuing To Improve

Much like Ben Fowler's persona, his golf came can never stop improving.

In four years at Harrisburg High School, Fowler's nine-hole and 18-hole average improved. He went from a 40 in his freshman year to a 36 in his senior season.

Fowler earned All-South honors the last two season and this season the Bulldog was named All-Conference.

He kept the accolades rolling recently when he signed a National Letter of Intent to play golf for Lindenwood University in nearby Belleville.

"I've worked hard to get where I am and getting the opportunity to take it to the next level is a blessing," Fowler said. "I always know I can work harder when I think I'm working at what I believe to be my hardest."

That trait, that Fowler admits he gets from his father Dale, along with being competitive is what ultimately led him to Lindenwood.

"I wanted to be close to home, yet far enough away to really get the sense of being on my own," he said. "I'd like to remain around home for as long as I can. The coaching staff likes to bring competition into the team itself. I love that, I think people with a competitive nature are the real winners in life."

Fowler has spent many summers involved in tournaments, helping prep him for what the college game will be like and is looking forward to the next chapter in his golf career.

"I'm very familiar with tournament play," Fowler said. "Most colleges play 36 holes the first day of a tournament and 18 the next. Myself, as a person, can never stop improving."

Fowler is undecided on a major, but said he is considering finance.
