Prep Volleyball: EHS drops four at CMSF Invite

The Eldorado High School volleyball team lost four matches over the weekend at the Carrier Mills-Stonefort Invitational, falling to Crab Orchard 17-25 and 19-25, Norris City-Omaha-Enfield 8-25 and 13-25, Gallatin County 16-25 and 21-15 and Galatia 20-25 and 24-26.

Madison Newton was named to the All-Tournament Team, where she led the Eagles in spikes with 35, had seven kills and led the team in blocks. Rachel Durham led the team in setting and Kaitlyn McGuire led the team in digs.

"We were without Kaitlyn Etienne due to an injury and freshman Paige Munds did a good job for us. You keep changing rotations and players around to fight the right combination," said EHS head coach Lisa Craig's whose team is winless on the year.

Late last week, Eldorado closed out the NCOE Tournament, won by the host Cardinals, with straight set losses to Hamilton County (18-25, 16-25) and Carmi-White County (17-25, 17-25).

"We played better tonight," Craig said. "McGuire and Etienne had a good defensive night. Madison Newton had a good night tonight all around. Olivia Parker had a good game with several blocks. We are getting better with every game and NCOE always has a good tournament with quality teams. The girls played with more confidence also."
