Prep Football: Bulldogs, Redbirds conference opener postponed until Saturday afternoon

The SIRR Ohio opener for Harrisburg and West Frankfort will have to wait another day.

The Week 4 matchup at Johnson Field will resume Saturday at 2 p.m. with 8:55 remaining in a scoreless first quarter after a weather postponement from Friday.

West Frankfort has the football with a fourth down at the Harrisburg 37 yard-line.

"It's just frustrating. This whole year has been like this," said HHS coach Al Way. "Weather, injuries, suspensions, it just seems like we can't get in the flow of anything."

Earlier Friday, the teams had attempted to move up the start time to beat the weather from 7 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. But after countless lightning strikes, the opening kickoff didn't occur until 8:33 p.m. Less than 10 minutes later, the game was postponed.

Harrisburg (1-2) ‎is coming off a loss last week at Boonville, Indiana. West Frankfort, which went winless last year, is 2-1 to open this season.
