Prep Volleyball: Dogs fall to Carbondale at home; Eldorado still searching for win

HARRISBURG - The Harrisburg volleyball team stepped up to the competition, playing 4A Carbondale Monday night and almost escaped with a win.

Instead, the Terriers took two games from the Bulldogs, winning 25-23 and 25-23 at Davenport Gymnasium.

"It was a tough, hard fought match," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "We were without our senior setter Jessica Schwartz, who is out with an injury, but the girls stepped up and played a competitive match against a strong Carbondale team."

Bryleigh Buchanan had nine kills and four blocks for the Bulldogs, while Matty Hawkins finished with four kills and three blocks. Devin Butler played big running the floor at the full time setter for Harrisburg, finishing with 14 assists on the night.

Eldorado still searching for win

The Eldorado volleyball team lost in three sets (16-25, 26-24, 20-25) to Gallatin County Monday night.

"The girls played very well the second and third game," EHS head coach Lisa Craig said. "The third game was very close and some questionable breaks was the difference in a loss instead of the win. Kaitlyn McGuire, Kaitlyn Etienne and Paige Munds had very good defensive games in the back row. Madison Newton and Briley Lenkiatis had a good night at the net and Rachel Durham, Madison Newton and Angelica Harrelson had a very good serving game. The girls really played with heart and more confidence than ever before."

The Eldorado junior varsity team won 25-17 and 29-27.
