Prep Cross Country: Home Sweet Home

HARRISBURG - It was a nice welcome home gift for the Harrisburg High School boys and girls' cross country team as they won their own Invitational Tuesday knocking off four other schools at Southeastern Illinois College.

The Bulldog boys finished with 35 points and topped Carrier Mills, who took second with 49 points. Gallatin County was third at 57 points, while Massac County (84) and Galatia (144) rounded out the scoring. There was no team score for Eldorado.

On the girls side, Harrisburg was the lone team as there was no score for Eldorado or Massac County.

For Harrisburg, Seth Thai took first for the Bulldogs, crossing the line at 18:28. That was followed by a Top 10 finish for Christian Murray (6th, 20:53), Franco Teston (7th, 21:32) and Ethan Haney (9th, 22:08). Other times and places for Harrisburg included, Justin Womack (12th, 22:43), Caleb Bethel (13th, 22:58), Nathan Horn (17th, 24:11), Walker Henley (28th, 28:06) and Brody Womack (35th, 38:59).

Brandon Walker finished third overall for the Wildcats and finished in a time of 20:04. Billy Lewis wasn't far behind for CMSF, taking fourth with a time of 20:07.

Other finishes and times for Carrier Mills-Stonefort included, Rostin Lewis (15, 23:31), Darion Barnes (16, 24:02), Kyle Bristow (19, 24:31) and Connor Doty (21, 25:39).

On the girls side for Harrisburg: Franchesca Laurencio (1st, 23:17), Mckenzie Sullivan (4th, 27:32), Marisa Miller (5th, 28:04), Shavnah Ballard (6th, 28:21), Aniha Taborn (8th, 30:07) and Lauren McDaniel (3rd, 26:07).
