Prep Volleyball: Dogs Tame Tigers

The Harrisburg High School volleyball team picked up a big SIRR Ohio Conference win over Herrin Tuesday night, winning 25-22 and 25-18.

The win puts the Bulldogs at 4-2 in conference play and Harrisburg stands at 14-10 overall.

Matty Hawkins and Bryleigh Buchanan played big getting eight kills and two blocks each. Jessica Schwartz and Devin Butler had 12 assists each in the win over Herrin.

"We started off slow but we're able to speed up our offense and feed off of Herrin's mistakes," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "We are starting to get more comfortable with this line up and more confident."

The Harrisburg junior varsity team lost in straight sets, falling 25-11 and 25-21, while the freshmen also lost, 25-23 and 25-16.

Harrisburg is slated to host West Frankfort tonight (Thursday).
