Prep Volleyball: High Honors

The Harrisburg High School volleyball team finished third over the weekend at the Marion Invitational.

Harrisburg defeated Herrin 25-22 and 25-22, while also beating Du Quoin (25-22, 25-22) and Marion (25-18, 25-27, 15-8), while picking up a pair of losses to Norris City-Omaha-Enfield (25-23, 16-25, 12-15) and Murphysboro 23-25, 18-25).

"We didn't finish the day the way we wanted but it was a good day with a big win over Marion," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said.

Bryleigh Buchanan, who was named to the All-Tournament Team for Harrisburg had 26 kills and 10 blocks on the day, while Matty Hawkins finished with 21 kills and six blocks for the Bulldogs. Devin Butler had 30 assists, while Jessica Schwartz chalked up 36 and Mackenzie Marshall had 20 digs for the day.

Harrisburg is now 17-13 on the season and will play host to Murphysboro Tuesday and will be at Herrin on Wednesday.
