Alumni Corner: Bahari Amaya, Tyler Smithpeters & Capel Henshaw

Bahari Amaya - Illinois Springfield

Amaya got the start for the Prairie Stars going 2-of-7 from the field and 2-of-3 from beyond the arc, netting six points in Illinois-Springfield's 81-57 loss to Findlay Friday on the road.

Amaya finished with four rebounds, had four fouls, one assist and one turnover, logging 24 minutes.

The Prairie Stars (0-1) will play their third game in four days on Monday as they host Illinois College in their home opener. Tip-off is set for 7 PM at The Recreation and Athletic Center as the two teams will meet on the hardwood for the first time.

Tyler Smithpeters - SIU

Smithpeters came off the bench, going 0-for-2 from the field in SIU's 81-65 loss to Wright State Friday at the SIU Arena.

Smithpeters played seven minutes and had logged one foul as the Salukis started the season 0-1.

Southern Illinois plays at Arkansas (1-0) tonight at 7 p.m., marking the first of three games against Power Five conference opponents this season. The Salukis also play at Minnesota (Nov. 25) and Louisville (Dec. 7).

Capel Henshaw - Lewis

Henshaw got the start, scoring 8 points in Lewis' 87-83 win over Northern Michigan Sunday night.

Henshaw went 3-for-7 from the field and 2-of-5 from 3-point range, while grabbing one rebound in the win.

The former Harrisburg standout had one foul and one assist in 25 minutes of action.
