Prep Hoops: Gallatin County, CMSF grab GEC wins

Both Gallatin County and Carrier Mills-Stonefort picked up Greater Egyptian Conference wins on Tuesday night as Gallatin picked up a 53-48 victory over Crab Orchard and Carrier Mills-Stonefort earned a 58-34 win over Thompsonville.

The win for Gallatin County (4-2, 2-0 GEC) came over previously unbeaten Crab Orchard who is now 8-1 on the year as Seth Ramsey poured in a game-high 18 points and was helped out by Audie Goebel, who tacked on 13 points.

Gallatin led 20-14 after the first quarter and went into the locker room tied at 25. The Hawks got a pair of big 3-pointers from freshman Dawson Hish, who head coach Doug Miller said played big as Gallatin County led 44-34 after thee quarters of play.

Robbie Prince scored seven points, while Luis Rubio and Hish each scored six points. Aaron Walters tallied three for the Hawks.

Gallatin County returns to the hardwood Friday when they host Pope County.

Carrier Mills 58, Thompsonville 48

CMSF put three players in double figures as they knocked off Thompsonville in GEC action Tuesday.

Will Gibbs had a game-high 15 points, while Justice Hill netted 14 and Brody Walker tacked on 13 for the Wildcats.

Andrew Lollis netted nine for Carrier Mills-Stonefort, while Darion Barners finished with four, Billy Lewis tacked on two and Logan Shaw tossed in a free throw.

The Wildcats return to action Friday night when they travel to Hardin County.
