EHT: Anna-Jonesboro, Carmi, Fairfield, Edwards Co. win on Day 1

Anna-Jonesboro used a big second half, outscoring Union County, Ky. 38-27 to post a 56-41 win to open up play at the Eldorado Holiday Tournament Monday.

A-J 6-foot-2 junior guard Jake Parr had a game-high 21 points in helping the Wildcats extract some revenge on the Braves after Union County handed Anna-Jonesboro a 51-48 loss last year when A-J was the No. 8 seed.

"I thought in the second half we were able to attack their gaps," Anna-Jonesboro head coach Mike Chamness said. "But getting to the line and making free throws, I thought was really huge as well. When they fouled us, we were able to get to the line make them, but being able to penetrate their zone defense, get to the gaps and make some shots were key."

Logan Sawyer also finished in double figures for the Wildcats, scoring 10.

Union County's Marqualio King had 10 points for the Braves.

Anna-Jonesboro (5-7) will now play No. 1 seed Herrin in today's (Tuesday) EHT action at 1:45 p.m.
