EHT: Herrin bumps off Bulldogs to advance to title game

Herrin rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to get past No. 5 seed Carmi-White County, 43-39, in Wednesday’s semifinals of the 52nd annual Eldorado Holiday Tournament.

DJ Spell scored 13 points for the Tigers (8-2) who didn’t take their first lead of the game until the 5:25 mark of the fourth quarter.

Jake Simon was one of three Bulldogs in double figures with 12 points for Carmi (9-2). Matt Rice and Travis Black both scored 10 points.

Carmi was making its first semifinal appearance at Eldorado since 2004.

Before the loss to Herrin, Carmi had beaten two other SIRR Ohio schools (West Frankfort and Harrisburg) in the tournament.
