‘Good Will Hunting:' Councilor wants to honor Damon, Affleck with signs

Talk about giving props to one's homeboys.

Earlier this week, City Councilor Marjorie Decker asked City Manager Bob Healy to see if the city could dedicate two intersections to a pair of Cambridge's favorite sons: Ben Affleck and Matt Damon.

Decker asked the city to dedicate the intersection of Pearl and Cottage streets to Affleck, and the corner of Pearl Street and Mt. Auburn Street to Damon.

"It's about honoring their accomplishments," Decker said Monday night. "They've done a lot of great service, both publicly and not so publicly."

"We do so many dedications in Cambridge, it seemed appropriate to do it for them as well," she added.

Decker isn't just a fan, but a friend of the acting duo, who last shared the screen - albeit briefly - in Kevin Smith's "Jersey Girls" in 2004. All three attended Cambridge Rindge and Latin School in the late 1980s. Damon, whose most recent film's "The Bourne Ultimatum," graduated in 1988, while Decker and Affleck were members of the class of 1990.

Neither Damon nor Affleck could be reached for comment.

According to the state's Office of Campaign and Political Finance, Affleck made a$500 contribution to Decker's 2005 re-election campaign.
