Anderson J. 'A.J.' Henshaw

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[Anderson J. "A.J." Henshaw, 88, of North Mill Street, Carrier Mills, died 6:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at his residence.

He was born April 21, 1920, in Carrier Mills to Finis Henshaw and Audie Morse Henshaw. He married Morean Elms on April 8, 1943.

In World War II, he served as a navigator in the 415th Nightfighter Squadron. He was a retired self-employed businessman in Carrier Mills as the owner and operator of Henshaw's Clothing. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills, where he served as lay leader for many years and taught the Dorcas Sunday School class.

He is survived by his wife, Morean; three sons, Mike (Lavon) Henshaw of Harrisburg, Harry Henshaw of Miami, Fla. and Brent Henshaw of Denver, Colo.; two brothers, James Henshaw of Herrin and Charles Henshaw of Evansville, Ind.; six grandchildren, Brad Henshaw, Jarrod Henshaw, Sara Powell, Aaron Henshaw, Rebecca Henshaw and Todd Stevens; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Harry Henshaw; and a sister, Sarah Tanner.

Cremation has been accorded; Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Visitation is 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, July 21, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Carrier Mills. Memorial services are 1 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church. The Rev. Joey Dunning will officiate.

The family prefers flowers be omitted. For those who wish, memorials may be made in his memory to the building fund of the First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the church or may be mailed in care of the Absher-Nicholson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 226, Carrier Mills, Ill. 62917.
