Grey's Anatomy Recap: "Perfect Storm"
[Warning: This story contains major spoilers from Grey's Anatomy's season finale. Read at your own risk!]
Grey's Anatomy super storm rocked the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital in more ways than one: At least one doc got the shock of his life, another couple broke up and the fate of two other couples was left up in the air. Fortunately, there was some good news during the finale: Meredith Grey had her baby, and he's totally fine! Let's take a look at where our fave docs ended up this season:
Meredith and Derek: To complicate matters during the storm, Meredith's in labor and needs a C-section, but with the power out, it'll be next to impossible. When the baby is born, it's not crying and Derek must bring the wee one to the NICU. Everything seems fine, but then Mer's doc gets pulled away when Shane is sewing her back up and they notice blood in her IV, meaning she's bleeding internally. Mer must walk Shane through the procedure... until she passes out. But, in the end, Mer and baby are totally fine and they name the kid Bailey (find out why below).
Cristina and Owen: After another discussion about the dreaded baby topic, Cristina decides that she would never want to get in the way of Owen's happiness and the duo calls it quits again. Should've seen that one coming.
Bailey: After Ben and Richard try to get through to Bailey, the stalwart doc is still not doing surgery. But she saves the day when the docs are unable to get to get to all the meds when the power is out, giving her a nice confidence boost to later help save Meredith. Is it any wonder McBaby gets named after her? Bailey is back... we hope.
April and Jackson: Yes, we say Jackson over Matthew, even though April is technically engaged to the latter. After April believes Jackson to be dead in the bus explosion, April tells Jackson to give her a reason not to marry Matthew. Naturally, he's shocked, but he doesn't respond. We'll have to wait until next season to find out!
Alex and Jo: With the power out in the NICU, Alex and Jo have to teach the parents of the tiny humans how to ventilate their babies to keep them alive. Alex sees how calm and collected Jo is during this crisis, making him fall in love with her more. Apparently she's his person now after he confesses his love for her.
Callie and Arizona: When Callie realizes Lauren is wearing Arizona's scrub top (Whoops! Getting dressed too quickly is not a good idea!), she confronts her wife with the infidelity. But Arizona says that Callie doesn't understand because she wasn't in the plane crash, didn't have to watch Lexie and Mark die, but worst of all -- allowed Alex cut Arizona's leg off. Unfortunately, it's unclear whether this is the end of Calzona, but we certainly hope they'll work through their issues next season.
Richard: After helping Cris through a surgery in the dark, he finally gets recognition for being an awesome teacher - a perfect setup for him to die. Now, while it's unclear whether Richard actually died at the end of the episode, he did get electrocuted trying to turn the generator back on. And it's not looking good, people.
What did you think of the Grey's Anatomy finale? Are you sad Cris and Owen have broken up? Are you rooting for Callie and Arizona, as well as Jackson and April to make it work? Hit the comments!
And another year comes to an end! Thank you all for reading and commenting on the Grey's recaps. Hope you've enjoyed reading them as much as I've enjoyed writing them. See you next season!
