Will the "Velvet Teddy Bear" come out on top?

American Idol 's Season 2 winner Ruben Studdard will compete on the new season of The Biggest Loser , People reports.

Studdard, 34, has been trying to lose weight since he competed on the Fox singing show in 2003. In 2006, he became a vegetarian and shed more than 70 pounds. Two years later, Studdard married, but began putting weight back on after he divorced in 2012.

Studdard released his most recent studio album, Letters from Birmingham, in March 2012.

Season 15 of The Biggest Loser premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 8 at 8/7c on NBC. Are you excited to see Studdard back on the small screen?
