Lawrence Edward Higgerson

Lawrence Edward "Bud" Higgerson, age 83, of Desloge, Mo., formerly of Troy, Ill., passed away on Friday, Oct. 4, 2013 at 5:25 p.m.

Bud was born on Oct. 5, 1929 in Denmark, Ill., a son to John and Grace (Cottom) Higgerson. On Aug. 7, 1976, he married Diana Horrall in Granite City, Ill. and she survives. Bud was of the Baptist faith and was an over the road truck driver for Middle West Freightways, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed yard work, flowers and gardening. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, fishing and fast cars.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Sharon Metzger (boyfriend, Mike Mueller) of Troy, Ill., Beverly (Jim) Cleland of Steeleville, Ill. and Michelle L. (Dwayne) Ashburn of Bonne Terre, Mo.; six grandchildren, John, Regina, Blake, Tyler, Lindsay and Trenton; six great-grandchildren; cousin, Bill Higgerson and a niece MaeDell Klemme.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a son Lawrence "Buddy" Higgerson; two sisters, Lucille Smith and Beulah Kettler and one sister in infancy.

Bud's wishes were to be cremated.

A memorial service will be held at Pyatt Funeral Home, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Dennis Conway officiating. Interment will be in Cottom Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.

Friends may call at Pyatt Funeral Home on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
