OBITUARY: James V. Morris

James V. Morris, 69 of Eldorado, died Sunday, Aug. 3, 2014, at his residence.

He was born in Terre Haute, Ind., on May 26, 1945, to the late Vernice and Daisy (Orman) Morris.

Jim was a Air Force Veteran. He was a member of Eldorado First Christian Church where he became a Deacon in 2007 and a Elder in 2011. He was presently serving on the Eldorado City Council as the Finance and Water Commissioner. He worked for Scot Lad as director of purchasing, worked at Great Scott in Evansville, Ind., and he worked for the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member and serving on the board of the American Legion Post No. 169 in Eldorado. He was a avid Eldorado Eagles fan and also the Dodgers and Dallas Cowboys. He volunteered at Choisser Kitchen. He was devoted to all young children. The family wishes to thank VNA hospice for their care of Jim.

Surviving are his children: James M. (Robin Allen) Morris of Scottsdale, Ariz., Mary Morris of Eldorado and Sara (Chris Compton) Morris of Evansville, Ind.; brother, William (Belva) Morris of Terre Haute, Ind.; a sister, Sandra Sue Seeley of Terre Haute, Ind.; and a half sister, Patty Harris of Terre Haute, Ind. Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Brenda Morris; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife Barbara Ann (Bickel) Morris on June 30, 1998. He was also preceded in death by a brother Jesse Morris.

Funeral services will be 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 7, 2014, at the First Christian Church in Eldorado. Scott Pilkington and Dennis Robison will officiate. Visitation will be held 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, First Christian Church or Eldorado Youth Athletics and can be left at the church.
