Marie Giacomo
Marie Giacomo, age 92, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Saturday, September 6, 2014 at 11:28 p.m. in Coulterville Care Center, Coulterville, Ill.
Marie was born on July 21, 1922 in Perry County, Ill., a daughter to Joseph and Eva (Miller) Goldman. On Aug. 30, 1949, she married Joseph C. "Josie" Giacomo Jr. in Piggott, Ark. and he preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 2000. Marie was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., and was a member of the W.M.U. at Oak Grove Baptist Church. She was a bookkeeper for many years, working alongside her husband at Giacomo Lumber Company, Pinckneyville, Ill., was a waitress at many restaurants around Pinckneyville and worked for a time at Pinckneyville Garment Factory, Pinckneyville, Ill. Marie enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting, embroidery and loved caring for her family.
Survivors include her daughter, Geneva (Robert) Cuccatti of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two granddaughters, Staci (Larry) Louis of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Rhonda (Alan) Neuhaus of Gorham, Ill.; five grandchildren, Shaneille (Branum "Opie") Piper, Kaylee Louis, Brady Louis, Kayci (fiancée, Andrew Smith) Neuhaus and Ashley Neuhaus; first great-great grandchild, "Baby P" to be born on Nov. 12, 2014; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Raymond Goldman and sister, Agnes Roethe.
Funeral services will be held at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Tuesday, Sept. 9, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. with Pastor Sam Higgerson and Pastor Mike Higgerson officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may call at Oak Grove Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 8:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m.
