Everette Schumaier
Everette "Gene" Schumaier, age 87, of Pinckneyville, Ill., passed away on Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014 at 4:40 p.m. in Sparta Community Hospital, Sparta, Ill.
Gene was born on Jan. 11, 1927 in Perry County, Ill., a son to William Henry and Ida Anna (Hopp) Schumaier. On Dec. 22, 1951, he married Betty Louise Dry in the First Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, Ill., and she survives. They celebrated over 62 wonderful years of marriage. Gene was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill., where he was past president of the St. Paul U.C.C. Consistory and served on the church educational building committee. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army and was the owner operator of Schumaier Agribusiness and a manager for Twin County Farm Services. Gene was a member of the Greater Egypt Planning Committee, Pinckneyville Community Hospital Board of Directors and was actively involved in the Perry County Farm Bureau. He was an avid pilot and enjoyed photography.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Schumaier of Pinckneyville, Ill.; two daughters, Cindy (Chuck) Leonard of Pinckneyville, Ill. and Brenda Jean (Steve) Wheelhouse of Rogers, Ark.; four grandchildren, Kelsey Wheelhouse, Schuyler Wheelhouse, Chuck Leonard, Jr. and Danielle Ridgeway; seven great-grandchildren and two brothers, Emory (Betty) Schumaier and George Schumaier, all of Pinckneyville, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Clarence "Pete" Schumaier.
Funeral services will be held at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill. on Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend Cindy Bean officiating. Interment will be in Mueller Hill Cemetery, Pinckneyville, Ill.
Friends may to call at St. Paul United Church of Christ, Pinckneyville, Ill., on Saturday from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
